May 2022 Wrap-Up

May wasn’t my best reading month, but I still read a few books. I read 9 books, a total of 2.858 pages. My average rating was 3.72 stars, a little lower than April but it doesn’t bother me. It’s a pretty typical average rating for me.

Here’s what I read in May:

Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood – 4 stars. Check my mini review here.

The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James – 4 stars. This was the first Simone St. James book I’ve read and I enjoyed it a lot. The dual timeline between past and present events piqued my interest. I wanted to know what happened in 1977 and why Beth wanted to share her story in 2017 with Shea. The mystery about the Lady Killer’s murders was intriguing. I enjoyed how the author slowly built the tension. There’s a romance through it too. The paranormal elements… spooky and creepy in my opinion. The ending was nice, but a little predictable. I wanted a twist or two. Overall, a very solid, entertaining, creepy mystery story.

Fence Vol. 2 by C.S. Pacat – 4 stars. I loved this one! The tryouts are killing me, I’m rooting for everyone… it’s hard! I love these characters and the art style is so freaking cute. Also, the slow burn is REAL. Love how Nicholas interacts with Seiji, it cracks me up.

Ever After Always by Chloe Liese – 3.5 stars. Check my mini review here.

Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood – 3.5 stars. Check my mini review here.

The Righteous by Renée Ahdieh – 3.5 stars. Check my mini review here.

The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne – 4.5 stars. Check my review here.

My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth – 4 stars. Check my review here.

My May TBR went really well. I read 7/7 books from my TBR, which was great. I didn’t read any of my wiggle room possibility books. I read 2 books that I wasn’t planning to read in May: Fence Vol 2 and Under One Roof. I participated in the May the Force Read with You readathon and I reached the 5th level in The Sith Order by completing 5 prompts (3 Dark Side Prompts, 2 Neutral Prompts):

Force Sensitive: Read this book only at night – Ever After Always

Seduction: A book with a pretty cover – The Mechanical Romance

Force Fear: A horror/thriller book – The Book of Cold Cases

Corruption: Start a series – The Atlas Six

Telekinesis: 5 star prediction – The Hunger of the Gods

Overall, it was a good month. I read 1 Mystery/Thriller, 1 YA Fantasy, 2 Adult Fantasy, 2 YA Contemporary/ Romance, and 3 Adult Romance books.

Have you read any of these books? Share your thoughts with me in the comments.

Xoxo,

Andie

  1. Ah, what a fun mix of books you got to read this month! I, alas, have yet to get to Ali Hazelwood, but everyone has so much fun with her stuff, I just HAVE to at some point 😅 I hope June + July prove to be good reading months for you as well!
