The Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag 2022

Can’t believe June is already ending! I had to research a lot to find out who created this tag, and I think it was created by Ely and Chami on BookTube (?). I hope that’s correct because even though there are a lot of people doing this tag, apparently not many, including me, know who were the original creators.

Let’s get to the questions.

1. What is the best book you’ve read so far this year?

54125750. sy475  52694527. sy475

These two were the best books I’ve read this year in their respective genre. I think about both of them constantly! But I needed to include what I’m calling the honorable mentions: The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa & Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim.

2. Best sequel you’ve read this year

57341045. sy475

I’ve read a few sequels but none of them come close to The Hunger of the Gods. I went into it expecting the middle book syndrome and I loved every second of it. So good!

3. A new release that you haven’t read yet but you want to

50882394. sy475

Can’t wait to read the conclusion to The Prison Healer trilogy.

4. Most anticipated book for the second half of the year

53457102. sy475  59838811  57945316

I narrowed the very long list of anticipated releases to these three.

5. Biggest disappointment of the year

56269064

This one didn’t work for me. The setting was the most interesting aspect of this book.

6. Biggest surprise of the year

57789637  59536615. sy475

This one is a tie. I loved these two 2022 releases and I read both in the same month. Can’t wait to read the sequels.

7. New favorite author – either new to you or debut author

Just by looking at this list, it’s easy to guess: John Gwynne of course!

8. Newest fictional crush / 9. New favorite character

55849310. sx318

Addie LaRue. Her story was beautiful and I loved her!

10. A book that made you cry

56980367

I shed a few tears while reading Our Violent Ends. I loved these characters so much! It was hard to say goodbye.

11. A book that made you happy

60096989. sy475

This book made me smile so much! I loved every single moment, every single character and I laughed a lot while reading it. A fantastic fake dating romance with lots of chemistry.

12. Favorite book to movie adaptation

Hmm, I don’t recall any book to movie adaptation that I loved this year. But book to TV Show is an easy pick: Heartstopper was a great adaptation. So cute and perfect! 🥰

13. Favorite post you’ve done so far this year

My 2021 reading stats was a fun post to do.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought this year

Daughter of the Moon Goddess is a stunning book.

15. Books that you need to read by the end of the year

56337632. sy475  58755534  58690308. sy475   944073. sx318 sy475

7235533  50523477. sy475   59345253. sy475  57197053. sy475

There are too many. These are only some of the books I want to read this year, not including fantasy sequels and releases in the second half of the year.

This was fun! What do you need to read by the end of the year?

Xoxo,

Andie

  1. Loved reading your answers and the books you’ve highlighted in your post, Andie! I’ve seen so many people mention that John Gwynne book/series as favourites this year and it’s giving me FOMO and making me want to bump that book up on my TBR asap 😍 I’m also head over feet for all of Chloe Liese’ romances so it makes me so happy seeing Ren and Frankie up there too! 🥰 So many on your TBR for the year are also titles that I hope I can get to this year… We can do it, lol! I hope you enjoy your reads and have an amazing rest of 2022!

    1. The Bloodsworn Saga is fantastic. John Gwynne put a spell on me, for sure! Haha
I loved Ren and Frankie so much! I still need to read book 4 and 5 in Liese’s series.
That’s the spirit! We can do it! 😀 Thanks, Dini! ❤
