2020 was a roller-coaster and 2021 isn’t exactly better so far, that’s why this post is only going up late January. Here’s how my goals went:
Read at least 5 Sci Fi books; – I failed this one. I don’t know why but at the beginning of the year I was in the mood for reading SciFi. Well, at least I thought I was. I had 3 books on my TBR: Skyward (read in February); The God Game (read in April) and Aurora Rising (read in September). After reading Skyward, I immediately ordered Starsight (the second book in the series) but I still haven’t read it. When I finished Aurora Rising, I also ordered Aurora Burning (the second book in the series) which I read in October. Not bad, but it bums me out that I had (still have) Starsight on my shelf and didn’t manage to read it. Overall, I read 4/5.
Read 2 nonfiction books; – I thought I wasn’t going to complete this one. I read Scrappy Little Nobody in September and Open Book in December (so thankful for audiobooks!). 2/2. Done!
Read 3 Thriller/Mystery/Horror books; – I read 6 books in these genres: The Guest List (that actually won best Mystery & Thriller Goodreads Choice Awards 2020); Rules for Vanishing; The Outsider; The Haunting of Hill House; I Hope You’re Listening and One of Us is Lying. 6/3. Done!
Finish The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare; – I finished TMI series! I read the first two books in this series in 2019 and I really wanted to finish the series in 2020. So, I read City of Glass in February; City of Fallen Angels also in February; City of Lost Souls in May and City of Heavenly Fire in December. 4/4 Done!
Read The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare (3 books); – I read Clockwork Angel in August; Clockwork Prince in September and Clockwork Princess in November. I loved this series, the characters are absolutely amazing. 3/3 Done!
Participate in 3 Readathons or more; – Just listing the readathons: O.W.L.s Magical Readathon 2020 in April; the Pop Culture Readathon in July; the N.E.W.T.s Magical Readathon 2020 and the Summerween readathon in August and finally Becca’s Bookoplathon in September which was the only readathon I failed because I only completed some of the challenges. 5/3 Done!
Honestly, I’m surprised with my results in 2020. I’m still bummed about the SciFi goal because I could’ve achieved it easily. However, every time I picked Starsight, I wasn’t in the mood to read it. I hope I’ll get to it in 2021.
Also, January sucks. Just saying. The struggle is real.
