2020 Goals Check In

I should have done my 2020 goals progression in July, but maybe I can still do some damage control until the end of the year. Let’s see how my goals for 2020 are going.

  • Read at least 5 Sci Fi books; – This one is not going so well. I’ve read 2 Sci Fi books so far. I do have 2 Sci Fi books on my September TBR, so let’s see if I pull this one off until December.

  • Read 2 nonfiction books; – Another one that is going terribly. I haven’t read a single nonfiction book this year. I have 1 nonfiction book in my September TBR. I don’t usually gravitate towards nonfiction books so I might fail this one…

  • Read 3 Thriller/Mystery/Horror books; – Completed! Summerween handed me this one! I’ve read 4 so far: 3 Horror books and 1 Mystery book. I might read more in October.

  • Finish The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare (Read 2, so 4 books); – I’ve read the third, fourth and fifth book in this series, I’m saving the last one to read after I finish The Infernal Devices series, because apparently that’s the correct order to avoid spoilers or so I’ve been told.

  • Read The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare (3 books); – I’ve read Clockwork Angel, the first in this series, and I’m 79% into Clockwork Prince, the second book. I might pull this one off and I’m loving this series!

  • Participate in 3 Readathons or more; – Completed! I’ve participated in the O.W.L.s Magical Readathon 2020 in April; the Pop Culture Readathon in July (I only posted about it on Twitter though); the N.E.W.T.s Magical Readathon 2020 and the Summerween readathon. I’ll be joining another readathon in September too, I’ll post about it soonish.

  • Complete Goodreads Reading Challenge: Read 50 books; – Completed! I’ve read 75 books so far. I’m torn between updating my goal or just leaving it like that. Can’t decide what to do.

  • Complete Fairyloot Year-Long Reading Challenge; – 19/25. I think this one’s doable, I have books on my TBR for 4 of the categories that I haven’t completed yet. I still haven’t picked any books for “Read a book set in winter” and “Read a book that it’s famous for it’s villain“. Got any recs for me that fit these 2 prompts?

I think the overall picture isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I can still achieve some of these goals until the end of the year. I seriously doubt the nonfiction goal… And I have a hunch that the Sci Fi goal will probably be stuck at 4, but we’ll see.

How are your 2020 goals going?

  1. I think you’re doing pretty well! It’s awesome you’ve been able to complete so many readathons. I think this is the first year I’ve participated in readathons and managed to finish none of them 😂 You’ve still got a few months left in the year to catch up with your other goals too. I also realise that I’ve only read one NF this year and it was a graphic novel memoir… I should definitely work on that! Lol

    1. Thanks, Dini! I hope I can still catch up, usually November and December are kind of chaotic but if I stay focused I might do it! Readathons are tough but this year I’ve been strangely disciplined… Who AM I? 😂😂😂
NF is always hard for me, I’m curious about some memoirs but I never pick them up. Idk if I’ll manage to read more than one. Btw I’m loving Scrappy Little Nobody, Anna’s voice is so funny and charming! I think you would have fun reading it. 🙂

  2. Ahhh I love this post, such a great idea! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the clockwork angel but I loved the world. I can totally see why you do. I want to read the clockwork prince eventually and hope you enjoy it! (I’ve pretty much lost count of the other books in the shadow hunters world there’s so many ha). Here’s my review of the clockwork angel, check it out 🙂 https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2020/10/21/everything-wrong-with-the-clockwork-angel/
