Series: Heartbreaker Bay #2

Publisher: Avon Books

Synopsis

If she has her way…

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her…

…He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him…

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice…

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but he doesn’t even remember her. How can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish–and let the mistletoe do its work…

Review:

The Trouble with Mistletoe is the second book in Jill Shalvis’ Heartbreaker Bay Series, it can be read as a standalone but I definitely recommend the first book in this series Sweet Little Lies.

Willa Davis is funny, cute, curvy, petite and, just like Pru, her best feature is her heart. Her huge heart. She is absolutely amazing, the way she cares, her kindness, selflessness and the way she connects with animals and people is so heart warming and inspiring. I absolutely loved her!

Keane is the perfect example of sex on a stick, the perfect guy for a one night stand but nothing more because he doesn’t feel anything too deep. Or so he thinks… He’s charming, smart, very good with his hands (pun intended!), dedicated to his job, he doesn’t have a close connection to his family and he was always a loner. However, out of the bloom, his  great-aunt shows up and leaves her feline from hell, Petunia aka Pita, with him. So he’s desperate for help because he can’t control the cat and goes to South Bark where he meets the sexy owner… Willa. He begs for her help but he can’t help noticing that she acts like she already knows him and doesn’t really like him much. Still, sparks flying everywhere, Keane is intrigued and Willa always throws a coin in the fountain to make a wish…

Jill Shalvis did an amazing job with this one. Every time Willa was at work, at her pet shop, everything just jumped out of my e-reader and came to life. I could actually see every little detail with the vivid descriptions of dogs, cats, fishes and all their interactions, baths, pet weddings, the Christmas decorations, all the setting is absolutely stunning.

I gotta say that even though I loved Pru and Finn’s book, I loved even more Willa and Keane’s story and surprise, surprise, although I loved Keane, Willa is the true shining star here. I think I have a girl crush! Willa is freaking amazing. She’s such a sweet heart but she’s not too perfect. She’s got a rough past nevertheless she’s trying to help others that had similar experiences in their lives while dealing with being afraid of letting someone in. I really liked the back and forth between Willa and Keane, their steamy moments (let me just add: insanely hot, hot, hot moments), I loved how the whole gang kept meddling in their relationship (it kind of reminds me two tv shows that I absolutely loved: Friends and How I Met Your Mother) and how we get a glimpse of some of their future paths.

Sweet Little Lies was a fantastic start to this series, even so The Trouble with Mistletoe raises the bar higher which I didn’t think was possible, yeah, I stand corrected! Definitely a must read with a perfect balance of character’s self-growth, romance, passion, unconditional friendship, a touch of angst, hilarious and emotional moments and also… mistletoe everywhere!  Can’t wait for the next one in this series (Elle and Archer’s story) and it’s only releasing January 2017. Is it January yet??

I received a copy of this book from HarperCollins via Edelweiss.

    1. I love this series, if you liked Friends or HIMYM you’ll love it! It’s much more than just the romance between the MCs. Their group of friends is absolutely hilarious. I really like Jill Shalvis’ books and TTWM is one of my 2016 top favorites. 🙂
